Corinne LesCallette greets visitors on the front porch.  Over 130 guests
attended the event which included an open bar, buffet, silent auction, croquet, and lots of just good 'ole socializing.
Bert and Emma Thornton's mint juleps were a highlight of the event.  Proof positive is that many guests were seen going back for seconds...and more!
A partial view of the items available at the silent auction.  In all, the evening raised over $15,000 for the Nabb Research Center!!
Pictured here is the hostess of this event, Kathryn Niskanen.  Kathryn is in the dining room with the wonderful smorgasbord of food that was provided by Doyle's Restaurant.
This beautiful bouquet was on the buffet table in the dining room.  Flowers were provided by Flowers Unlimited of Salisbury, MD.
Doyle's Restaurant in Selbyville, DE provided the catering for this event.  Just take a look at the juicy shrimp that was part of the food arrangement.
The food provided by Doyle's Restaurant was excellent, and this fruit salad bowl was no exception.  There was also crab dip, turkey, ham, scallops wrapped in bacon (delicious!) and plenty of side dishes and desserts.
The six guests at right were wearing  period costumes.  The clothing is from a wide range of periods; from 1740 on up to 1856.  Pictured from left to right are,
 E. Jefferson Fox, Pat Taylor, Thelma Merrill, Polly Batchhelder, Martha Pfeiffer, and Paul Pfeiffer.
E. Jefferson Fox was wearing a dress that her great-grandmother Caroline Kemp made in 1855!!!  The material the dress is made of is wool challis and was imported from England!
Mrs. Martha Pfeiffer is pictured in the living room in front of the fireplace.  Isn't she stunning in this circa 1770 reproduction?
This is the bartender Kathy Harris pictured with Mr. Paul Pfeiffer.  Mr. Paul Pfeiffer was wearing a circa 1740 reproduction for this event.  This outfit would not have been very common in these parts, as the climate is just too hot and humid.  It would have been more common to see city dwellers or Europeans wearing this outfit as their climate would have been more comfortable for heavy outfits.
This picture was taken during the silent auction.  There were so many people at this event that the back porch would not hold everyone bidding, so it spilled out into the beautiful back yard.  This years event raised over $15,000 for the Nabb Research Center!!!
