The paneled wall in the dining room, including a fireplace and sunburst cupboard, was copied in 1939 from the Almodington Room at the New York Metropolitan Museum. The Architect, Samuel Mullins, did not know that Almodington, the house from which the paneling had been purchased was located directly across the Manokin River from Clifton. He told Ms. Niskanen personally that he copied it because he liked it. A large photo of the Almodington Room is in the dining room. |
