The
Seminole Pro Tour @ Diamond Billiards
|
|
|
06.22.2008...Let
me tell you about Diamond Billiards in Cape Coral Florida...I have
seen some nice rooms, but this one is the "mother of all pool
rooms!" The Seminole Pro Tour event started Friday
evening.
|
|
|
|
Now let's get
down to the nitty gritty hard truth of it all! 10,000 square
feet of "heaven on earth" for pool players. The
engineering in this place was outstanding, and you have to give
credit to owners Ward and James. Upon entering the room, there
is a beautifully tiled walkway up the center of the room that leads
to the elevated lounge area, kitchen, restrooms, video games and
second-floor office and liquor storage. There is no walkway
interference with the tables when traversing the
floor.
|
|
To your left are eight
Diamond smart bar tables surrounded by plenty of seating for players
and league players that play. There is league play four nights a week going on at
Diamond. All tables are
covered with Simonis cloth, with Diamond lights to boot and plenty
of room between tables. To the right is where the serious
stuff goes down. Fourteen 4 1/2' x 9' Diamond tables and
lights are also surrounded by plenty of seating. Sundays
Diamond has a tournament for amateurs only that usually gets between
thirty to fifty players a week.
|
|
|
|
Diamond has
plenty of atmosphere as well. The bar itself and the top of
the banisters surrounding the lounge area has all granite
countertops.The center
section of the bar has an area of granite that is
backlit...WOW! Room owners
Ward and James are letting it be known that this is a place for
players to come for action. Diamond has everything you need
for a full day of activities. No need to leave once you
enter...there is a nice selection of food at inexpensive prices, and
the food is very good.
|
|
Not to mention
the atmosphere...the walls are decorated in burgundy and green, with
lots of neon around the room, as well as really neat lights hanging
over the lounge area that add lots of atmosphere. Hanging from
the ceiling were ten state-of-the-art air conditioners with
inflatable vinyl ducting. This made for very comfortable
temperatures throughout the tournament, no matter how many people
were in the room.
|
|
|
|
The room was
also complemented by an iTunes jukebox that utilized a Bose sound
system that incorporated eighteen (that's right, 18) Bose speakers
hanging from the ceiling, and a woofer that is capable of making the
place shake, rattle, and roll!!! To top all that off,
there were 22 flat panel TV's placed strategically around the room,
and that included several really big ones. It is apparent that
the locals really appreciate the accomplishments of Ward and James,
as the place was packed all weekend with waiting lists...need I say
more!
